Breaking Free

*Annie arrived at Crossroads after her case was sent to the Domestic Violence High Risk Team. Afraid but determined, she found safety in the shelter, where she began rebuilding her life. With support from advocates, she secured a job, gaining confidence with each passing day. Step by step, she worked toward independence, eventually finding her own apartment. With legal guidance, she obtained a permanent protection order against her abuser, ensuring her safety.   Standing in her new home, keys in hand, Annie felt something she hadn’t in years—hope. Crossroads had been her refuge, but now, she was truly free.

Teen Room Renovations Finished!

Amidst the exciting happenings here at Crossroads, we knocked down a wall between two offices to create a larger dedicated space for teens at shelter—a place just for them. Now that construction is complete and the paint dries, we’re filled with excitement as we plan what this space will become. From cozy seating to creative activities, we’re shaping a welcoming environment. Because of a generous donation through the NoCo Foundation, we are able to update the furniture and supplies in the room. In order to stretch the funding as far as possible, we are accepting donations to help us fill the room! We are currently looking for a small couch, bean bag chairs, a TV, gaming consoles (PS5, Switch), games for those consoles, and cool lighting for teens (i.e. lava lamps, projector lights, etc.). Please reach out to Alicia at anottrott@crshs.org to see how you can support teens!

Program Spotlight: DVHRT

This team focuses on identifying and intervening in high-risk intimate partner violence cases in Larimer County to reduce harm to victims and increase offender accountability. Research from the Geiger Institute shows that certain cases have a heightened risk of serious bodily injury or death. To address these concerns, this team meets bi-weekly to review these cases and ensure they receive the necessary ongoing support. Crossroads staff on the Domestic Violence High Risk Team work diligently to ensure victims are contacted and provided with the option to access essential support services.

Resource of the Month: Grounding Techniques

We understand that there’s a lot of uncertainty in life at times, and it’s normal to feel overwhelmed. To help you stay grounded when things feel stressful, we have a simple grounding exercise worksheet. It’s a small but powerful tool to help you reconnect with the present and find a sense of calm.
